Job Title: Attendance Officer

Reports to: Office Manager / Deputy Headteacher Responsible for: Working alongside the Pastoral Team and other key staff in School to promote excellent attendance, reduce levels of pupil absence and work with children and families to promote high levels of attendance.

Start date: December 2018

Hours of work: 08:00-16:15 Monday – Friday.

Contract type: Permanent, 40 weeks per annum 36 hours per week (term-time + inset days + 1 week)

AGFS opened in September 2012 with an intake of 100 year 7 pupils, now at full capacity and with two years of highly successful results under our belt the school is in a very strong position.

Playing a vital role in our Pastoral care, the role of the Attendance Officer is centrally about taking a leading role in facilitating excellent pupil attendance. You will work closely with Form Tutors, the SENDCo, Pastoral Team, Attendance Advisory Service and other key stakeholder to ensure that the monitoring processes for attendance and punctuality are robust. The successful candidate will be meticulous about record keeping and investigating all attendance issues promptly. You will methodically identify patterns in particular students that have episodes of persistent absence, triggering the necessary actions and follow through to ensure all absences are challenged and accounted for. You will have a clear understanding of attendance provision, make stringent communication with parents and be proactive about taking action to support families.

•            To take a leading role in facilitating excellent attendance and punctuality across the school in order to ensure pupils fulfil their potential

•            To provide wider administrative support within the school
