Term 1 Natural forms identification, understanding, application of techniques, processes and media including scale, perspective, composition, line, tone, form, and texture.
Term 2 Still life painting Interpretation, identification/ understanding of techniques, artists and works. Composition of outcome. Paint skills/ manipulation, colour mixing.
Term 3 CAD/CAM Pop Art Keyring Project Relevant research and analysis - Pop Artists Outcome safe/fit for purpose. Skill full use of appropriate media and techniques.

 

Year 8:

Term 1 Landscape

Final 3D outcome, use of relevant techniques, processes and suitable materials.

Term 2 Portrait Interpretation and understanding of significant artists and works. Skills and techniques to produce final landscape in appropriate media.
Term 3 CompuTech Step meter Functioning, safe, ergonomic step meter. Materials, tolls and techniques skill fully applied. Clear application of influences from research.

Year 9:

Term 1 4th Plinth sculpture competition

Final 3D outcome, use of relevant techniques, processes and suitable materials.

Term 2 Top Trumps

Production of Top Trump card set. Safe, functional acrylic laser cut card holder. Application of research inspiration/ influence.

Term 3 Portraiture- printmaking and photography Effective photographic/print made out come. Techniques artistic/ photographic to convey emotions/character. Apply research influence.

 

Key stage 4 curriculum

Yr10/Yr11 – GCSE Edexcel Pearson Art and Design/Photography – Two components 1 and 2

Assessment:  Accumulation of relevant knowledge, skills and processes culminating in a portfolio as response to an externally set theme which demonstrates progress and a final high quality and suitable outcome under exam conditions.

The subject builds an ever-growing interest in art, design and photography with continued building of knowledge, skills and ability to discuss the impact of art, design and photography on the wider world. Students able to interpret forms of existing and developing media and become acutely aware of popular culture, its impact historically and currently. 

Students able to study independently, review and refine work with a path leading to tertiary education and/or a career in their chosen subject area.
