Early Advice for Returning to School in September 2021
Monday 09 August 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
Following recently updated government guidance, I wanted to write to provide you with an early sight of our revised plans for scholars returning to school in September. Please note, this advice may be subject to further change if the government updates its position over the summer. I will write to you again on 26th August to confirm our final plans.
Scholars will have potentially mixed with other people during the summer holidays, as such, the government is asking that all secondary school pupils receive 2 on-site lateral flow tests, 3 to 5 days apart, on their return in the autumn term. We are well placed to deliver onsite testing and will be re-establishing our onsite testing facility to accommodate this.
Regular testing is an important part of the government's strategy to control the spread of the virus, we strongly encourage parents to provide their consent. For further details on how onsite testing works at AGFS, please click here. If you have already provided consent for your child to receive an onsite test, you do not need to take any further action. Year 6 parents and any parents who are yet to provide consent are asked to do so using the MCAS parent App (instructions here) or by clicking this link.
Arrangements for September will be as follows:
|Day/date||Sequence of events|
|Wednesday 1st & Thursday 2nd September||Staff only inset days - including planning and preparation for onsite testing.|
|Friday 3rd September||All year groups attend COVID Test 1 only at the specified times below. Scholars must arrive promptly at the start of their session wearing full school uniform. Lunch is not provided on this day:
|Monday 6th September||
|Tuesday 7th September||
|Wednesday 8th September||
|Thursday 9th September||All year groups arrive 07:45-08:20 for the start of normal lessons. Dismissal at 15:00.
I look forward to writing to you again in August to set out further details on our arrangements for returning to school in September, alongside any updates to our covid-safe protocols and essential reminders.
