Issue 2- Parent Bulletin 11th September 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome all scholars back to school this week and to extend a special welcome to our new Year 7 cohort. Attendance is nearly 98%, which is a new record for the first week of term. The site is once again a hive of activity, scholars are setting extremely high standards and the new drum beat of school life has been found. Scholars seem happy to be with their friends and teachers and we continue to keep a close eye on their wellbeing.
The focus this week has been on establishing our new covid-safe routines and school culture. I’ve been very pleased with the way our community has responded to our new routines. Scholars are demonstrating maturity and fellowship by looking out for each other.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents of the sky high expectations we have at AGFS. It is these expectations that were recognised earlier this year by Ofsted when we received the highest grade in our inspection. It is these standards that keep our scholars safe and ensure they make exponential academic progress. Staff at our school are trained to address every small detail and this is because we care about our scholars and want them to reach for the stars.
The truth is that it would be far easier for staff to ignore a scholar who is not paying attention in lessons, fail to address a scholar who is late to school or to allow a scholar not to complete their homework to a sufficient standard. We will never take this easy option because we care. Our staff will take the time to issue a sanction or intervention and to support the scholar to correct their mistake so that it doesn’t happen again.
Remember, we are always here to support you and your child. Your first point of contact should always be your child’s form tutor. Thank you, as always, for your superb support.
