At AGFS we are committed to fairness and equality. The opportunity to empower young     people, regardless of background, to grow and be successful is at the heart of everything we do. We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind and seek opportunities to celebrate         diversity. We continue to reflect upon and develop our approach to inclusion whilst holding a sense of pride in the difference we are making to the lives of all our students.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I’m sure we have all been impacted by events in the news this week. At AGFS we are proud of our inclusive and culturally diverse community where children of all backgrounds outperform their counterparts nationally. Our values promote tolerance and respect such that scholars leave us ready to contribute positively towards the development of a fair and equal society. Nevertheless, there is always room for improvement, so we are committed to reflecting deeply on what more we can do to effect positive change. In the meantime, the most powerful thing our staff can do is to continue to provide an outstanding education to all our students.

It now seems clear that students, except for those in the current Year 10, are unlikely to be returning to school this academic year. Year 10 parents have been written to separately about our arrangements to facilitate some face-to-face support to supplement online learning. Students in the current Year 9 will continue to receive live online lessons in preparation for the assessment period.

To enhance the learning experience for students in the current Years 7 and 8, teachers will now be creating explanatory video clips to accompany all lessons. Our plan for the final 5 weeks of term is outlined below:

*This plan may be subject to change should the UK government update its advice. If your child is already   attending our community classrooms for key worker and vulnerable students, they should continue to do so.

A child will succeed if they have two things – a great school and great support from home. Thank you for continuing to encourage your child with online learning and the submission of work – we couldn’t do it   without you.

I will update all year groups with arrangements for September as soon as government guidance is published.
