Dear parents and carers,
I am delighted to be able to inform you that the school’s Ofsted inspection report (11-12 February 2020) has now been published. I can confirm that Ark Greenwich Free School was awarded the highest possible grade for a Section 8 Inspection, to quote an inspector: “there is sufficient evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school might now be judged outstanding”.
Just 2% of secondary schools have been judged outstanding under the new framework since September 2019 (Department for Education)
I would like to pay a special tribute to our scholars who are an absolute credit to their parents. They are proud of their school, and we are proud of them. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated staff, parents, and governors – without whom this achievement would not have been possible.
However, I should remind you that achieving such recognition from Ofsted was never our objective, although it is an important milestone in the school’s journey. Moving forward, our aim is to create one of the very highest performing UK schools - a beacon for secondary state education located right here in Greenwich. And we still have work to do.
The school now expects to receive a full Section 5 Inspection within two years, where we hope this view to be further validated.

I am extremely proud of what we are achieving here at AGFS and I know you are too.
Thank you once again for all your support.
Yours faithfully,
Rhys Spiers
Headteacher
