AGFS Updates 11th December 2020

Introducing MCAS

We've heard our families loud and clear, and starting Monday the 14th December, we're introducing you to the new parent app, MCAS. This application will replace Xpressions and allows parents to access attendance details, behaviour notices, communications and more all in one spot. All parents will recieve an invitation to MCAS on the 14th and we encourage you to join asap! To learn more click here or the tile below for further information.

Covid During the Holidays

The Department for Education recommended that schools should be closed to scholars on Friday 18th December in order to support the Track and Trace system over the Christmas break. It is vital that parents follow the below guidance if a scholar tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) at any time before the 23rd December.

If a scholar tests positive for coronavirus and develops symptoms before Sunday 20th December, parents are asked to email info@arkgreenwich.org with the information so that the school can assist with track and trace. The scholar and other members of their household should isolate as per the guidelines.

If a scholar tests positive for coronavirus but does not develop symptoms until after Sunday 20th December, the school does not need to be contacted and parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

If the school is made aware of a positive case within our community we will work closely with Public Health England to identify anyone else that needs to isolate and you will be contacted if this applies to your child.

Full Scholarship for Aron Schmidt

Congratulations to Aron Schmidt who has successfully secured the Leatherseller’s scholarship at Colfe’s school for sixth form in 2021. Aron has received a fully funded scholarship to study History, Maths, Business and Further Maths. To prepare for this Aron wrote an outstanding personal statement and had an incredible interview where he impressed the headteacher of Colfe’s with his History knowledge. He thoroughly deserves this and we are incredibly proud of him. Well done Aron!

High Valued Goods at School

Please be reminded that scholars should not bring high value goods into school such as expensive trainers and smart watches. Lost, damaged or stolen property is the responsibility of the scholar.

Scholars of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top scholars for achieving the most golden tickets in their year groups. Each student has exemplified the school values of Ambition, Growth, Fellowship and Scholarship.

Jumpers for Jimmy on 15th December

On the 15th of December our scholars are encouraged to wear their most festive and creative Christmas jumpers and to donate £1 to the Mizen Foundation, a local charity that combats bullying. To donate click here.  Alternatively, scholars may bring in a £1 coin on the 14th in preparation for the following day.  Watch a video from the Mizen family here. Career Meetings for Y9, 10 and 11 Scholars

Every scholar in Y9, Y10 and Y11 has been offered a one to one career meeting with our Level 6 qualified CEIAG Careers Lead, which commenced at the beginning of October. As you can imagine with so many students to see, the appointments will span over the next few months, especially for those in Y9 and 10. However, priority meetings were given to scholars in Y11 in order for them to receive tailored advice regarding their post 16 progression from our careers lead, Mrs Neville.

We appreciate the continued patience of all scholars in waiting for your appointment.
