Last night saw our annual Prize Evening event and it was truly a night to remember. Year 7 kicked the evening off with a roaring rendition of "You Gotta Be", a song that represents what it means to be an AGFS scholar: bold, brave, wise, strong and together. They then matriculated and we celebrated the successful introduction to their AGFS journey they have had. For the first time, we saw some exceptional Year 7s matriculate with honours. These were scholars that in a very short space of time had managed to achieve golden tickets in each of our four values and 8 dispositions. Our Hall of Fame unveiling came next with a record number of scholars making their way onto the wall. Scholars who achieved 3+ grade 9s at GCSE (which puts them in the top 1% nationally in that subject) and any scholar who has competed or performed at a regional or national level also made the Hall of Fame. This year we had 5 scholars recognised for their musical achievements which include being selected for the National Youth Choir and being selected to perform a solo at the Barbican.
The night then proceeded with scholars receiving subject awards, tutor awards, and awards for their elite performance in the extra-curricular programme. We were also lucky enough to be treated to performances from the Elite Drama group, a Year 9 band, Hope King performing a Sade classic, and two of our Year 7 forms singing Aux Champs Elyssee in French.
Overall the night was spectacular and was a celebration of the hard work and achievements of our exceptional scholars. Thank you to all of the parents that joined us.
